Financial Analyst Mr. Hamid Riza and Financial Reporting Officer Mr. Hassan Shakir of Finance & Management Accounting Unit are attending the GLOMACS Financial Accounting and Reporting Seminar in Dubai.
The course is scheduled to run from 19th December 2009 till 26th December 2009. At the end of the Seminar, attendees will be able to understand the role of accounting standards in the communication of financial results, the need for openness and clarity in financial reporting and understand the work with the role of audit.

| Drug Free Workplace Awareness Program |
MACL has started a Drug Free Workplace Awareness Program at Male? International Airport on 19th Dec 2009. This is an ongoing program conducted with the collaboration of Maldives Police Service.
The purpose of the program is to help prevent accidents and injuries resulting from the use of prohibited drugs by employees who perform safety-sensitive functions at Male? International Airport.
In compliance with CAD requirements, a drug testing program will be commenced soon.

| A group of four employees of Automobile Maintenance Services Unit leave to Colombo. |
A batch of four employees from Automobile Maintenance Services Unit is attending a training program in Colombo Institute for Construction Training and Development.
The training program which costs MACL MRF 365,346.16 is scheduled to run from 14th December 2009 till 12th February 2010. With this training, the participants are expected to gain more knowledge on the theoretical and technical skills required for their service. |

| Maldives Airports Company supports the governments environmental initiatives |
Maldives Airports Company has declared its support for the governments environmental initiatives, and congratulated the government for its efforts to reduce the effects of climate change.
Speaking with President Mohamed Nasheed, in a meeting held at Male International Airport before his departure to Copenhagen, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Company Mr Mohamed Ibrahim said the Company has decided to actively contribute to governments plan to make the Maldives carbon neutral.
During the meeting, the CEO presented a letter to the President detailing the measures the Maldives Airports Company is taking to make its operations sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The letter also outlines the programme the Company is aiming to introduce concurrently with the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen.

| Commencement of Integrated Safety Management System Course at Maldives Airports Company. |
The Integrated Safety Management System Course for Senior Staff of Maldives Airports Company has been initiated today.
This course is being conducted with the aim of providing participants with basic understanding and knowledge of the fundamental principles and practice of integrated safety management systems (ISMS), as prescribed by the Maldives Civil Aviation Department (CAD) in implementing the relevant ICAO SMS Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
Human Factor and Systems Safety Consultant, BA and PhD, Dr. Robert Bruce Lee and Senior lecturer of Australian Defence force Academy Sue Burdekin, (both from Australia) are the assigned lecturers for this course which cost the company 178017/- (Seventeen Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen MRF).
A total of 20 participants including the CEO and Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, as well as Department Heads and Section Heads are taking part in the first round of this course which will last for 4 days.

| MACL Staff Sign Employee Contracts |
Under the new Organizational Structure, on 2nd December 2009 MACL held a function to mark signing of employee contracts. During the function Company Heads of Department signed their employee Contract.
The new organizational structure rolled out on 21st November 2009 is aimed to improve and further enhance the quality of services and to increase the overall productivity of the company. |

| Drug free workplace programme |
A meeting organized by the Safety and Standards Department was held at the ATS Building with the Department of Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation Services on 27th October 2009 to discuss on conducting a Drug Free Workplace Programme for 700 MACL staff who perform safety-sensitive functions at Male’ International Airport.
This programme is aimed at creating awareness among the staff before implementing a Drug Testing Programme which needs to be established and conducted as per requirements of Civil Aviation Department. The purpose of the Drug Testing Programme is to help prevent accidents and injuries resulting from the use of prohibited drugs by the employees.
