For several years Malé International Airport has played an important role in international civil aviation transport. Today it is a major gateway for the tourists and businessmen. The Maldives is accessible via Malé International Airport. It caters for a large number of scheduled and charter airlines.

Malé International Airport is open to air traffic 24 hours daily. The most congested periods are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Malé International Airport is the only international airport in the country and there are four domestic airports. All these airports are under the supervision of Maldives Airports Company Ltd., Ministry of Transport and Communication.
